A little bit of our history...

The Cultural Center Oficina Reciclável (CCOR), formed on 06/18/1996, is a civil, educational, cultural, social assistance and philanthropic, non-profit association, with legal personality and indefinite duration.

The ccor has twenty-four years of existence, with its beginning in the streets of Pelourinho, in Salvador 's historic center and in the poorest communities but since 2002 moved to the periphery in the Calabetão Quarter, which thus established its headquarters . The CCOR with its activities and interventions in the community serves more than 500 families indirectly, and 70 children and adolescents directly. During these twenty four years of service, support and dedication to socialization through art and culture, more than 2,500 students passed through the institution's rooms.

The institution has always used art education to address the affective and cognitive demands of children and their families, intervening in behaviors arising from low self-esteem, learning difficulties, psychological problems and difficulties in living together.

CCOR is a welcoming place and for children it is like their first home, as they are treated with love and respect regarding their individualities and affective demands.

All activities carried out aim to sow good, reflect on their reality and try to change it.

In planning, they try to remove the blindfold that exists in their eyes so that they see themselves as human beings capable of dreaming and fulfilling their desires without repeating their family's way of life.

Speaking of His mission, Valtércio said:

"It is taking care of my children, as a friend, educator, father and brother. Prevent them from falling into the lives of drugs, theft and violence. Giving them solid psychological conditions to live, transmitting self-esteem, respect, honesty, citizenship and the ability to create a better future and its own space in society. "

The CCOR was created by Valtércio Bispo dos Santos, with the stage name Valtércio Santis.

Valtércio, from Bahia, born in the city of Salvador, was an actor, dancer and visual artist.

We are a family owned and operated business.

In addition to creating CCOR, Val gave workshops at MAM (Museum of Modern Arts), at FUNCEB (Cultural Foundation of the State of Bahia), in addition to organizing various events on the streets of Pelourinho, such as exhibitions and artistic interventions.

In 2006 Valtércio died unexpectedly.

We are a family owned and operated business.

Valtércio represented to everyone a friend, father and teacher. With his departure he left an immense longing, especially in those who with him walked the paths with difficulties, but did not let this wonderful work started.

We are a family owned and operated business.

"CCOR for me is a point of culture here in the neighborhood. It taught me to have more education, more patience, express myself better and have more harmony, it is fine with people.

Yesterday I was here at the NGO, today I am out there, with my job and looking for people to help us.

Valtércio It was the Light that guided us and left the mark for us to grow and then to fly alone, choosing the paths, and I chose the path of good! "
